The Great Commission is not just for pastors or missionaries—it is for every believer. God’s heart beats for the nations, and He calls His people to take the Gospel to the lost. Whether you go across the world or across the street, you are called to share the love of Christ and make disciples.
📖 Matthew 28:19-20 – "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Why Missions Matters
It reflects God’s heart – He desires all people to know Him
It is a command, not an option – Every believer is called to share the Gospel
It brings transformation – Both to those we reach and to ourselves
It prepares the world for Christ’s return
📖 Revelation 7:9 – "After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb."
How to Develop a Heart for the Nations
1. See the World Through God’s Eyes
The Gospel is for every nation, every culture, and every person. When we align our hearts with God’s mission, we develop a burden for those who don’t know Him.
📖 John 3:16 – "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
2. Pray for the Nations
Prayer is the first step in missions. When we pray for unreached people groups, missionaries, and open doors for the Gospel, God moves in powerful ways.
📖 Colossians 4:3 – "At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ."
3. Share the Gospel Where You Are
You don’t have to travel overseas to be a missionary. Your workplace, neighborhood, and community are all mission fields. Look for opportunities to share Christ daily.
📖 Acts 1:8 – "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
4. Be Willing to Go
Not everyone is called to move to another country, but some are. Ask God if He is leading you to go on a mission trip or serve in another culture.
📖 Isaiah 6:8 – "And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'"
How to Get Involved in Missions
Pray for unreached people groups and missionaries
Give financially to support global missions
Serve in your local community as a missionary where you are
Go on a short-term or long-term mission trip
Send and support those who are called to full-time missions
📖 Romans 10:14-15 – "How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?"
Final Encouragement
God’s mission is not just for a few—it is for you. Whether you go, send, or pray, you are called to be part of His plan to reach the lost. Will you say yes to God’s call to share the Gospel?
