The Christian life is not just about believing—it’s about following. Jesus calls every believer to be a disciple and to make disciples, carrying His message to the world. Our mission does not end when we receive salvation; it begins.
📖 Matthew 28:19-20 – "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
What It Means to Be Commissioned by Christ
To be commissioned means to be sent with purpose and authority. As followers of Jesus, we are sent to:
Live as true disciples – Growing in faith and obedience
Share the Gospel – Leading others to salvation in Christ
Teach and mentor – Helping others mature in their faith
Represent Jesus – Living as His hands and feet in the world
📖 John 20:21 – "Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.'"
How to Live as a Disciple of Christ
1. Walk in Daily Obedience
A disciple follows Jesus in every area of life, choosing His ways over the world’s ways.
📖 Luke 9:23 – "And he said to all, 'If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.'"
How to apply this:
Spend time in prayer and the Word every day
Make decisions based on faith, not feelings
Let go of anything that keeps you from following Jesus fully
2. Share the Gospel with Boldness
Being a disciple means bringing others into God’s Kingdom.
📖 Romans 10:14 – "How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?"
How to apply this:
Look for opportunities to share your testimony
Pray for boldness to speak about Jesus
Trust the Holy Spirit to lead conversations
3. Invest in Others Through Discipleship
Discipleship is not just about personal growth—it’s about helping others grow in faith.
📖 2 Timothy 2:2 – "And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also."
How to apply this:
Mentor someone younger in the faith
Lead or join a discipleship group
Encourage and pray for fellow believers
4. Live with Purpose and Mission
Every disciple is called to a greater purpose—advancing God’s Kingdom in their daily life.
📖 Colossians 3:17 – "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
How to apply this:
Approach work, family, and relationships as ministry
Be intentional about serving others
Keep your focus on eternal impact, not temporary success
Signs of a Commissioned Life
You seek God’s will daily
You share the Gospel boldly
You invest in others through discipleship
You see every opportunity as ministry
You trust God’s power and provision
📖 Acts 1:8 – "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
How to Continue Living as a Disciple
Stay rooted in God’s Word – Let Scripture guide your decisions
Pray for direction – Ask God where and how He wants to use you
Seek accountability – Surround yourself with other disciples
Step out in faith – Obedience opens the door for greater impact
Remain faithful – No matter the challenges, keep pressing forward
📖 1 Corinthians 15:58 – "Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain."
