True leadership in God’s Kingdom looks different from the world’s definition. Jesus showed us that the greatest leader is the greatest servant. He didn’t seek power or position—He humbled Himself to serve others. If you want to lead like Christ, you must embrace servant leadership and put others before yourself.
📖 Mark 10:45 – "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
What Is Servant Leadership?
Servant leadership is leading with humility, love, and a heart to serve others. Instead of using leadership for personal gain, a servant leader:
Seeks God’s will above personal ambition
Prioritizes others instead of demanding recognition
Leads by example in humility and integrity
Invests in people to equip and empower them
📖 Philippians 2:3-4 – "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."
How to Lead Like Christ
1. Serve First
Jesus washed His disciples’ feet, a task reserved for servants. This act demonstrated that true leadership starts with serving others.
📖 John 13:14-15 – "If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you."
2. Lead with Love and Compassion
A godly leader doesn’t rule with pride or authority but leads with love, just as Jesus did.
📖 Colossians 3:12 – "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience."
3. Walk in Integrity
Leadership is not just about what you do—it’s about who you are. A leader with integrity is faithful, honest, and trustworthy in all things.
📖 Proverbs 11:3 – "The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them."
4. Equip and Empower Others
Jesus didn’t just lead—He trained and empowered others to lead. A servant leader invests in people and helps them grow in their calling.
📖 2 Timothy 2:2 – "And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also."
Signs of a Christ-Centered Leader
Leads by example, not just words
Serves with humility, not pride
Prioritizes people over power
Inspires others to grow and lead
Walks in integrity and faithfulness
📖 Luke 22:26 – "But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves."
How to Develop as a Servant Leader
Seek God daily – Let Him shape your heart and character
Look for ways to serve – Leadership is about action, not position
Put others first – Prioritize people over personal gain
Be a disciple-maker – Equip others to grow in leadership
Stay humble – Leadership is not about status, but surrender
📖 James 4:10 – "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you."
